HOW TO GET TO OUR CAMPUSES
Select the campus you are interested in visiting for location information, driving directions, and information about area hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and other accommodations.
In the Heart of the Mountains
When you Do North, you realize how Northern Vermont University’s location in the mountains shapes our two campus communities. As you look at the year-round mountain views from either campus, you see more than beautiful, inspiring hills and peaks — you see possibilities without limits.
Our campuses in Lyndon and Johnson are influenced by the nearby mountains and forests, rivers and lakes, and the distinct Vermont vibe: peaceful, welcoming, authentic, supportive. We’re also within a day’s drive of the cultural hubs of Boston, New York, and Montreal, and Vermont’s largest city, Burlington, is 90 minutes or less from the campuses. As an NVU student, you’ll have options for the rural and the urban, small-town fun and big-city excitement.
Outdoor Recreation All Year
If you like to ski, paddle, climb, hike, or bike, you’ll be in the perfect place. Here you can run whitewater rivers, bike through gorgeous scenery, and rock climb in stunning spots. If you ski, take your pick from some of the best terrain in the Northeast: Burke Mountain, Smuggler’s Notch, Jay Peak, and Stowe Mountain.
Big Fun in Small Towns
Our Johnson and Lyndon campuses are within walking distance of the classic Vermont villages of Johnson and Lyndonville, safe college towns that welcome students.
Johnson offers a supermarket, several restaurants, a bookstore and other shops, and the internationally known Vermont Studio Center, which has exhibits and readings from artists and writers from around the globe. Johnson is a short drive from Morrisville, a larger town with a movie theater, pharmacy, and health clinic.
Lyndonville has grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants popular with students. Nearby, St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and Littleton, New Hampshire, offer movie theaters, music and arts performances, and more restaurants.
A Different Pace
Burlington’s faster, more urban pace includes an international airport, music venues, many restaurants, the Church Street Marketplace pedestrian district, museums, and art galleries. Located on Lake Champlain with views of the Adirondack Mountains, Burlington also offers a bike path and boating and paddling opportunities.
