Where We Are
Driving directions and Lyndonville-area hotels, motels, and other accommodations
With year-round mountain views on both NVU campuses, you can see every day why Vermont is called the Green Mountain State. NVU is in the heart of the beautiful, inspiring mountains. No smog. No traffic congestion. You can see stars at night and hear yourself think.
But as a student at NVU-Lyndon, you’ll be close to big-city life, with Boston, Montreal, New York, and other cultural and sports centers less than a day’s drive away. Within Vermont, the state’s largest city and college town, Burlington, and the capital, Montpelier, aren’t far. And we’re a short distance from some of the region’s premier recreational hubs: Burke Mountain, Lake Willoughby, Jay Peak, Franconia Notch, and Kingdom Trails.
From Burlington International Airport: Take Interstate 89 S to Exit 8 onto US-2. Follow US-2 E for approximately 37 miles to Interstate 91 N and Exit 23. After exiting the ramp, enter U.S. Rt. 5 north and take an immediate left at the stoplight (Back Center Road). Follow for 1.5 miles to the stop sign. Continue straight for 100 yards, turn left at Lyndon Institute onto College Road. Continue one mile up the hill to the College.
Approximate driving times:
- 3.5 hours from Hartford, Conn.
- 3 hours from Boston
- 6 hours from New York, N.Y.
- 3.5 hours from Portland, Maine
Prospective students and families visiting the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon campus are encouraged to park in the Theodore M. Vail Center parking lot, for easy access to the Admissions Office. No special permits are required.
