Family, Friends, Fun at NVU–Johnson: September 13-15, 2019

Alumni Reunion and Family Weekend is set for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 13-15, 2019. As always there will be lots of fun, family-friendly activities happening all weekend long! Check out what we have planned for you!

Friday, Sept. 13
9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
NVU-Johnson Admissions Open House
Prospective students and their families explore campus and get to know our programs and faculty.
3 - 6 p.m.
Friday Fiesta! (Tent)
Play lawn games, lotteria (Mexican Bingo, and compete in a scavenger hunt! Snacks and mocktails will be served and music will be bumping to get the weekend started.
4:30 - 7 p.m.
Dinner (Stearns Dining Hall)
Enjoy dinner in our campus dining hall. $9.65 per person. 
6 - 8 p.m.
Alumni Association Annual Meeting (1867 Room, Dewey Hall)
Join the Alumni Council to learn more about the work they have planned for the upcoming year! President Collins will give an update on the state of the University. 
9 - 11 p.m.
Karaoke (Stearns Dining Hall)
Join DJ Josh for singing and refreshments.
Saturday, Sept. 14
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Roll Call Brunch (Performance Space, $20, Register in advance)
Alumni join their friends and families to learn more about what’s happening on campus! Alumni Awards will be presented by The Alumni Council and President Collins.
11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Badger BBQ! (Tent, FREE)
Alumni, families, and friends are welcome to join us for a delicious BBQ.
12:30 - 4:30 p.m. 
Visit the Welcome Center! (Tent on Quad)
Stop by to get event information and a gift.
12:30 p.m.
Tour of Campus (meet the tour guide in Stearns Performance Space)
12:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Quad Fest (rain or shine, Quad)
Hit the bounce house, compete against your friends at inflatable basketball, tie-dye a shirt, play giant lawn games, get your face painted, explore the rock lab, fly a kite, blow bubbles, toss a frisbee, enjoy tunes from a DJ, and more!
1 - 3 p.m.
Alumni Storytelling Project (1867 Room, Dewey)
Stop by to share your favorite stories from your time at Johnson! Students will be recording stories for our archives. 
1 - 7 p.m.
Beer and Wine Tent (Ages 21+, Quad)
Enjoy a glass of wine or a beer from an alumni-owned brewery and play lawn games with your friends.
1 p.m.
Men's Soccer Game vs. SUNY Delhi (Minaert Upper Field)
Come cheer on our players! Concessions available. 
1 p.m.
Women’s Tennis Match vs. NVU-Lyndon (Tennis courts)
Come cheer on our players! Concessions available. 
2 - 3 p.m.
Ice Cream Social (Tent)
The Alumni Council will be scooping and refreshments will be served.

Sunday, Sept. 15
10 a.m.
Color Run ($10, no registration required)
Get covered in color during this short race around campus. T-shirts available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. 
Brunch (Stearns Dining Hall)
Fill up before heading home. $7.25 per person. 
3:30 p.m.
Women's Soccer Game vs. MCLA (Minaert Upper Field)

Looking for something to do in between activities? 

  • Buy some NVU swag! Pick up your new gear in the bookstore (Dewey Hall) on Saturday from 9:00-5:00.
  • Work Out or take a swim- it is free! SHAPE is open Saturday & Sunday from 3:30pm-10:00pm. The Pool is open on Sunday from 4:00-6:00pm.
  • Catch frogs at the Lower Pond or hike the Babcock Nature Preserve or on the campus trails! Directions and maps are available at welcome table.
  • Take a drive and explore the area - maps of the area’s covered bridges & local attractions available @ hospitality table. The Stowe Farmers Market is open on Sunday from 10:00-3:00. 
  • Take the Julian Scott Walking Tour Grab a map at the hospitality table.
  • Play Frolf! Grab a map at the hospitality table, borrow some discs from SHAPE, and play the back nine.
  • Enjoy Art! MFA student Cecil Jerry’s show “Organized Chaos” will be showing in the Visual Arts Center & Philip Hagopian’s show “Sequel” will be showing in the Julian Scott Memorial Gallery in Dibden.
  • Visit the Johnson Historical Society Open on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 and located at 188 Lower Main St.
  • Wander around the Memorial Gardens. Grab a brochure and map at the welcome table.
  • Workout at the outdoor exercise station circuit. Grab a map at the welcome table.
