11:25 a.m. Keynote Address by Sahra Ali, Diversity and Inclusivity Consultant, and Co-Director of “The Same Moon” storytelling by new Vermonters

11:40 a.m. Closing remarks by Professor Isaac Eddy

After the ceremony, all NVU community members are invited to a free community meal in the Stearns Dining Hall (serving until 2:00 p.m.) 

About Sahra Ali

Sahra Ali is a Somali-American freelance writer and Diversity and Inclusion consultant. She has previously held workshops and training with K-12 students about racial literacy and the social implications of systemic marginalization. Sahra is particularly interested in fostering compassionate dialogue about equity and social responsibility in a productive manner. Most recently, she co-directed and performed in “Same Moon,” a documentary play that told the resettlement stories of eight new Vermonters, both immigrants and refugees, produced by Kingdom County Productions. Sahra lives in St. Johnsbury, VT.
