Johnson Seeks Winter Wear Donations

Northern Vermont University-Johnson is accepting donations of new and handmade hats, scarves and mittens during the month of November for children and teens of all ages in Vermont’s foster care system.

Donated items must be unused. NVU-Johnson also is accepting financial contributions, which will be used to buy winter garments. All donations will be given to Tatum’s Totes, a nonprofit started in Rutland that distributes the items to Vermont Department for Children and Families offices for youths in foster care.

The project is cosponsored by NVU-Johnson’s SERVE community service program and athletics department. Donated garments will be hung on a “mitten tree” in the campus SHAPE Center during November.

Items may be mailed to Krista Swahn, Director of Student Activities and Community Service, Northern Vermont University-Johnson,
337 College Hill, Johnson, VT, 05656.
