The 2015 Lyndon State College Outstanding Young Alumni Award for 2015 was awarded to Matthew Cyr ’05 for his achievements in broadcast television.

Cyr graduated from Lyndon with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Design in Production. Following graduation he started working for News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, Conn. During his time there, Cyr was the recipient of four New York City Emmy® awards, six Edward R. Murrow awards, 12 Telly awards, eight Aegis awards, and one NECA award. He was also recognized by the National Press Photographers Association for his submissions to their quarterly clip contest.

In 2014 Cyr and his family relocated to upstate New York, where he took a job with a sports production company. Some of his work included covering live and taped sporting events for NBC, NBCSN, FOX Sports, USATF, Jockey Club, USA Wrestling, U.S. Polo Association, and World Equestrian Games.

Most recently, Cyr has taken a job as a microwave radio field engineer for RS Telecom. They service 911 communication systems for upstate New York and all of Vermont. Cyr is also a freelancer for production companies in New York, shooting for various news outlets and film companies.

Cyr currently resides in upstate New York with his wife and daughter.
