Education majors at Northern Vermont University build skills to lead the next generation by learning to master technologies, work with diverse student populations, and adapt to change. As a student teacher, you’ll get in the classroom early on to ensure the major is a good fit. And throughout your studies, you’ll gain invaluable experience in actual classrooms, working with seasoned teachers who will help you shape your own direction as an educator. As a teacher education student, you'll get theoretical and in-the-classroom training to prepare you to teach with a range of student populations, from special needs students, integtrated elementary school students, early childhood students, and secondary level students.

You’ll graduate well-prepared to pursue licensure from programs that have produced award-winning teachers over the years. Our teacher preparation programs are approved by the Vermont Board of Education. Vermont teaching licenses are accepted reciprocally by many other states.
