About the Concentration in Adventure Education
Vermont's beautiful mountains are the ideal setting for you to hone your outdoor leadership skills. Whether you want to lead group tours and expeditions, teach rock climbing or other adventure skills, work in a therapeutic-recreation setting, or pursue other career opportunities involving the natural world, you'll gain the advanced training and skills you need to succeed in this growing field.
In addition to learning techniques to lead outdoor programs, you'll build your knowledge as an educator with courses in environmental science, education, biology, and psychology.
Luke Hampton '19 spent a summer as an intern in Jackson Hole, Wyoming learning the ins and outs of operating recreational guided tours.
"I was lucky enough to be able to shadow a Grand Teton trip and see hands-on how Jackson Hole Mountain Guides professionally operate with their clients in the mountains. The practical skills learned and professional relationships built here gave me the abilities and confidence necessary in order to succeed in the outdoor industry."
