North Leads You to Explore with a B.A. Degree in Outdoor Education at Northern Vermont University
In the bachelor of arts program in outdoor education at NVU-Johnson, you’ll learn by doing — in such spots as the campus’s Babcock Nature Preserve and rock-climbing wall, along the Long Trail, on the rivers and lakes of Vermont’s Green Mountains, on nearby peaks and faraway canyons — even possibly the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho in the winter or the peaks of Peru.
The curriculum includes courses in environmental science, education, biology, and psychology and courses focused on leadership and outdoor techniques. You’ll have the opportunity to join the campus Outing Club and work with area recreational programs and businesses. When it's time for your senior-year internship, you will find plenty of opportunities just beyond campus, or you can follow the lead of former NVU students who have interned with programs throughout the U.S. and beyond America's borders.
