Reach the Height of Performance with an A.A. Degree in Technical Theater at Northern Vermont University
With a live performance, what the audience sees on stage is only a small part of the picture. If you enjoy the behind-the-scenes work that makes live productions possible, the two-year technical theater program at Northern Vermont University-Johnson is for you.
You’ll master the mechanics behind the magic on stage by learning all the important backstage duties as well as stagecraft, lighting and design, set carpentry, music and audio engineering, production and house management, and more. You’ll also build skills in an internship.
You and your fellow students won’t just learn the ropes, you’ll do the ropes — and everything else it takes to run Dibden Center for the Arts on campus, home to theatrical productions, dance and music performances, and other events throughout the year.
