Your First Steps to Enrollment: Check Your Admissions & Financial Aid Information
Reply to Your Offer of Admission
You’ve made your decision and you’re ready to make it official! Accept your offer of admission by completing the Decision Reply Form on your Application Status Page. Your Decision Reply Form will appear after you have viewed your admission letter, by clicking “View Update” on your status page.
Submit your Enrollment Deposit
Deposit will ensure you receive important enrollment information and is required to proceed with enrollment steps. If you haven’t already, please go to your Application Status Page to submit your deposit. The option to submit your deposit will appear after you have completed your Decision Reply Form. Deposit is typically due by May 1 for fall enrollment and December 1 for spring enrollment. Our deposit deadline for fall 2024 is extended from May 1 to June 1, and we will work with students beyond that date as needed and on a space available basis. Your deposit will be credited on your future Vermont State account.
Ensure your Application Status Page Checklist Items are Complete
Students often have items to complete after admission and prior to enrollment, such as making sure your final, official transcripts are on file when they are available. Please go to your Application Status Page to view your checklist. Additional items may be required for your specified program of study.
Access Your Vermont State Portal
The portal is a Vermont State Colleges System and university environment you now have access to as an admitted student. First, activate your portal account. Log in to your Vermont State Portal and be prepared with your username and password for future use. You are able to select ‘Admitted Students’ to log in to view items of interest, such as your financial aid. You will use the portal for more as you progress toward enrollment, such as to view your class schedule.
Duo Security will soon be enforced for all Vermont State students. You are encouraged to prepare for Duo, as it will be required and protect university system applications you use. Duo offers several methods of multi-factor authentication. The Duo Mobile application is the easiest way to authenticate. Visit the FAQ page on the VSC IT Support website for more information.
Understand Cost of Attendance

We are happy to help you understand your costs and encourage you to connect with your admissions counselor to walk through this information with you. Your counselor’s contact information appears on your Application Status Page.
Apply for Financial Aid
For more information about types of financial aid, how to apply, and understanding your aid, please see our robust Financial Aid information pages. If you haven’t already done so, complete your Financial aid application (FAFSA) and have it reported to Vermont State. Our FAFSA code is 003698. Make sure the Financial Aid Office has all your documents, found on your Vermont State Portal. Bill and payment information will be available after registration.
Your Next Steps to Enrollment: Complete Student Life Forms & Requirements
Below is a list of items you can anticipate having to do prior to enrollment.
Submit your Residence Life Housing Contract
If you plan to reside in campus housing, you will need to submit a Residence Life Housing Contract. First and second year students are required to live on campus if not commuting from their or their parent’s home. You can review campus housing options on our Student Life pages.
The housing contract is available now for incoming spring 2024 students. The contract for fall 2024 students will become available in late spring.
You will use your Portal login information to access our eRezLife system. When you are logged in to eRezLife, click on “My Profile”. Complete the profile here and make sure to submit. Once that is complete, click on “Housing Overview” under the Housing menu item. Select your “Spring 2024 Home Campus” and choose the “Incoming…” student type that matches you. Save. Click on the green “Apply Now” button to complete your Spring 2024 Housing Application. Complete your housing contract by answering all questions and hitting “Save and continue”. Confirm that you understand the housing contract and that the information is complete then hit “Submit application”.
Complete and return your Health Form
This is required of all undergraduate students by Vermont State Law to attend class on campus. The form is available for download below. Upload submission instructions are available on your Application Status Page. Please do not mail your completed form.
The health form is available now for incoming spring 2024 students. The health form for fall 2024 students will become available in late spring.
Complete your TRIO Form
TRIO grant funding enables the university to provide additional academic support services to students who are eligible, such as undergraduate students who are first-generation, income-eligible, or students with documented disabilities. The TRIO form will help us determine your eligibility for the TRIO grant.
TRIO forms are campus specific and will appear as a checklist item on your Application Status Page if you are requested to complete this item.
Submit information and a photo for your Student ID
When you enroll, Public Safety will use a passport quality photo for your ID card. Your ID card will serve as your overall campus identification and will be used for many purposes, such as to get into campus buildings and to access your food plan.
Upload your photo to Public Safety; use your Vermont State Portal username and password to access the upload form.
Register your Vehicle
All students must register their vehicle with Public Safety each year, if commuting by car or planning to bring a vehicle to campus.
Complete your Student Tech Requirement Form
Vermont State University will require full-time undergraduate degree-seeking students who start in or after fall 2024 to have a laptop computer for coursework. Please see Student Tech Requirement and FAQ. The Student Tech Requirement Form will appear as a checklist item on your Application Status Page if you are requested to complete this item.
Steps to Enrollment for Your Program: Complete Additional Programmatic Requirements
Many of our programs also have additional information for new students and/or required materials students will need to bring. Below is a list of undergraduate programs with expected further requirements for enrollment. As requirements are fully established for 2024, information will be communicated to new incoming students in these programs.

Vermont State University Undergraduate Registration and Orientation Programs
Below is an outline of programs for new undergraduate students entering Vermont State. Admissions will connect with new, incoming students to provide initial next steps for registration and orientation programs on a rolling basis through to the semester start.
Graduate students will receive a welcome email with information about advising and course registration from the Office of Graduate Studies.
The first day of fall 2024 term classes is Monday, August 26. Here are the steps that will prepare you for registering and making your transition to the university successful:
Complete Your Registration Questionnaire
A Registration Questionnaire will appear as a checklist item on your Application Status Page in May for fall enrollment. Your Registration Questionnaire will ensure all of your admissions information is correct and help inform your course registration. Completion of it will tell us that you want to be registered!
Complete Vermont State 101
Vermont State 101 is a required online orientation program that will inform you about academic life and university resources and help you understand keys to your success as a new Vermont State student. Access Vermont State 101 by selecting “Student Login” and entering your Vermont State Portal username and password. Vermont State 101 sets a foundation for advising and is recommended to be completed before being registered for classes. For incoming fall students, it is also expected to be completed before opting to attend a Vermont State Day. Vermont State 101 is required to be completed before the start of your classes.
Mathematics Assessment
Many undergraduate students will be asked to complete a math assessment to help your success advisor guide you toward a math class that is right for you. The assessment will appear as an enrollment checklist item on your Application Status Page if this is a requirement for you. See further information on the math assessment. Students who completed Accuplacer testing as part of their admission and students who are transferring in college-level mathematics will not be asked to complete math assessment.
Engage in an Advising Conversation
Together with a university expert, your Student Success Advisor, you will finalize your class schedule.
First-year students, and students transferring in fewer than 30 credits, will be registered for most or all classes prior to the advising conversation. Together, you and your Student Success Advisor will discuss your class preferences, interests, goals, and make adjustments to finalize your schedule as needed. Students transferring in 30 or more credits will complete class registration during the meeting with their Student Success Advisor.
You will also be assigned a faculty advisor, who you will be connected with when the semester starts. Both your faculty advisor and your student success advisor will help you navigate your Vermont State educational path.
Join us for Vermont State Days! (Fall Only)
Summer events designed specifically for new incoming fall students. These one day, in-person events are available at each of our primary campuses, as well as an online option. These highly encouraged, yet optional, summer events are designed for you to connect, get comfortable, and have fun! Family programming will also be available. Join us at your future campus or online.
Attend Vermont State Kickoff
The weekend prior to the start of classes, all new students (first-year and transfer, living on campus or commuting) are encouraged to attend Vermont State Kick-Off at their primary campus or online. This orientation program is designed for you to further acclimate and connect with resources, faculty, staff, and students – setting the stage for success in the first week of classes.

Welcome week is a series of in-person and online activities during the first week of classes, so you know we are here, happy to help, and excited to support you on your new adventure at Vermont State.
