About the Concentration in PR, Marketing, and Social Media

In this ever-changing digital age, businesses and organizations are seeking employees who are well-versed in digital communications. With a concentration in PR, Marketing, and Social Media within your digital communications degree program, you’ll learn more than just strategic communication theory and best practices. You’ll gain a solid foundation in professional writing, public relations, graphic design, and advertising for digital platforms — all while in small, personalized classes with faculty who are professionals in the field.

An Interdisciplinary Approach

This unique degree program provides students the skills they need for successful careers after graduation. You’ll take classes in the business department like social media marketing and business ethics, but also spend time in our visual arts department and learn to design websites and use graphic design software. You’ll work with your peers in the broadcast and digital journalism major to hone your video, digital editing, and storytelling skills.

Hands-on Learning

Through internships, case studies, and opportunities to work with local businesses for class projects, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned in class to real-world working examples. You could intern in our on-campus, student run News7 studio or take on an internship with a local business that needs help getting their products out to wider audiences using social media, video or web.
