About the Concentration in Health and Wellness Coaching

Health and wellness is a growing field with a wide range of careers. You’ll learn the science behind health and wellness and graduate prepared to make an impact by helping people make positive changes through wellness coaching and health education.

You’ll take courses in biology, psychology, nutrition, and exercise science to learn how healthy habits can improve wellness and reduce the risks for chronic disease and disability. Collaborating with your professors in our labs, you’ll build skills for your career using cutting-edge equipment to measure body composition, cardiac health, stress, and other factors that affect health. And you will have the opportunity to gain more real-world experience by working as a research assistant on ongoing studies with faculty.

Graduate Ready for a Career in Health and Wellness

You’ll graduate with necessary skills for careers in personal training, corporate health and wellness, community health education, and health/wellness counseling.


National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching Seal

Northern Vermont University – Health & Wellness Coaching Program is an Approved Health and Wellness Coach Training & Education Program by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the HWC Certifying Examination to become National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).
