Reach New Heights with an Associates Degree in Mountain Resort Management from Northern Vermont University.

An associate of science degree in Mountain Resort Management will prepare you to work in all aspects of the mountain and ski resort field, from on-the-mountain to back-of-the house positions. You’ll learn the skills and strategies to be an effective manager at the summer and winter mountain and ski resorts where you love to play.

Classes in resort software technologies, environmental science, mountain and ski resort management, leadership and small group dynamics, among others, will build the foundational knowledge you’ll need, while hands-on practicums will put all you’re learning directly to work.

An associate degree will open doors, helping you to move from seasonal lift operator or ski school instructor, for example, to year-round mountain and ski resort staff in a growth position. The associate degree in Mountain Resort Management is a good fit for students with industry experience (as a customer and as staff) who want to move up, as well as those wanting to shift careers into this growing field.

For those interested in a four-year degree, NVU’s bachelor’s of science in Outdoor Education, Leadership, and Tourism with a Concentration in Mountain Resort Management will launch you farther into the field. With the bachelor’s program, you’ll expand your foundational learning to include outdoor education, program planning, and sustainable living, with concentration courses including such topics as ecotourism and strategic communications.

“Having my degree has helped me get jobs, but more importantly it developed me into a well-rounded and dynamic leader. I not only know how to tie the right knots, but I understand how to connect to different learning styles.”
