About N.E. Bou-Nacklie

Born and raised in the West African nation of Ghana, N.E. Bou-Nacklie joined the NVU-Johnson faculty during the 1990-91 academic year. After receiving a master’s degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Ph.D. from the University of Utah, he was attracted to Vermont in part because it offered an alternative to the large cities of the Southwest.

One of his favorite things about NVU is the “intellectual flexibility” he is given in his teaching. At a larger school, he explains, faculty members are fairly restricted in terms of the classes they can teach. While he specializes in Third World studies, focusing in particular on the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Russia, Dr. Bou-Nacklie is able to work across the humanities, teaching classes in history, religion, and political science.

When he isn’t teaching, Dr. Bou-Nacklie enjoys gardening, bicycling and working on his house in Morrisville.
