A Message from President Elaine C. Collins
Dear NVU Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Today we learned that a live-in employee on our Lyndon campus has tested positive for COVID-19. We have begun our own internal contact tracing and are working with the Vermont Department of Health on next steps. Our positive case is in isolation.
This is our second positive case out of 4,376 tests over the course of the semester. This second positive is not related to the first. As with the first positive, we have taken appropriate action.
We have two weeks left before our students head home for Thanksgiving break and the end of the semester. You have all done an incredible job adhering to health and safety guidelines during this pandemic. I ask you to keep it up—wear masks, keep social distance, and wash your hands. We cannot let up.
Again, strictly follow the Vermont cross-state travel guidelines. Please, do not travel. Stay on campus or at home. Your health—and the NVU community’s health—depends on it. Stay put and stay away from crowded places. Go outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather we will have over the next several days.
The Vermont Department of Health is in touch with anyone who needs to be notified. If you are called by their contact tracing team, please answer the call—this is to protect your health and to contain spread of the virus. You can find COVID-19 information, including travel guidance, at healthvermont.gov/covid19.
Please join me in keeping our NVU community member’s health in mind.
Thank you. Enjoy your weekend. Go outside. #MASKUPNVU
