Welcome to Northern Vermont University-Johnson!
We're excited you have decided to Do North at NVU-Johnson. We offer a weekend orientation program for new students as well as a week of fun and informative events for the entire campus community to celebrate the start of a new academic year!
Fall Orientation takes place the weekend before classes begin.
You’ll explore campus life as you talk with your academic adviser; meet student leaders; learn about public safety, student life, and health resources; and more. You’ll get your first taste of college-level discussion and analysis as you participate in a small-group discussion of the year’s Common Reading text.
As you settle into your new home, be prepared for other fun activities: parties, games, concerts, and hanging out with your new friends.
First Day of Classes
Stop by the Office of First-Year Experience in Dewey 154 if you need directions, information, encouragement, or a snack.
This formal ritual marks the opening of the academic year that dates to the earliest days of higher education. The incoming class will process across campus while their new community applauds their arrival. Convocation will include addresses from our President and Provost, as well as yet to be announced faculty member. This event is followed by a campus-wide community picnic.
Welcome Week and Extended Orientation
We can't possibly cover all the things students need to know to be successful at NVU-Johnson during Orientation. That is why we have additional programming during the first week and throughout the first semester to help students with this transition. Club and Activities Fair, Inflatables, Job Fair and more will help you get involved on campus and make connections that will make your first year a success! View the events calendar.
