NVU SOAR Frequently Asked Questions

When will Student Orientation And Resources (SOAR) begin? How long will I have to complete it?

SOAR kicks off on January 5 with an official welcome from your Orientation Team and an introduction to the SOAR online Course. You will also meet your Peer Orientation leader at the kick-off zoom event. Check your NVU email for further details on this kick-off event. 

I need help with/have questions about SOAR. Who can I contact?

How do I log in to SOAR?

Once you have logged in to the Northern Vermont University Portal and set up your account, you will use that username and password to access Canvas, your email, self service, and many other areas of the campus. If you need help logging in to your account, please check here for more instructions.

What’s the best way to stay updated with everything that I need to know about orientation?

The NVU First Year Experience website will be updated regularly between now and the beginning of the fall semester. However, you are welcome to contact the Student Life Office for updates or with questions.

Who do I contact about my status as a NVU student?

How will I register for classes?

You will be registered for classes in advance of the upcoming semester. You may contact the advising office to discuss your schedule, to add or delete courses. The Advising office can be reached at 802.635.1258 (Johnson) or 802.626.4860 (Lyndon).
