Two JSC Students Receive Stowe Rotary Scholarships
June 13, 2011
Each year, with endowed funds donated by the Stowe Rotary, Johnson State College awards scholarships to two students at JSC from Lamoille County with financial need and excellent academic records. Awards for the 2011-12 academic year were announced at the college’s Honors Convocation in May.
Recipients are:
– Alice Jones, a junior from Morrisville majoring in studio arts, who grew up in Stowe and, and after some travels and relocations, returned to the region with her young son. She is a devoted student and mother, maintaining a GPA of 3.89, and contributing volunteer efforts to her five-year-old son’s school and childcare center, while working as a lab monitor in the photography, ceramics, and digital-media labs on campus.
– Danielle Tinker, a sophomore from Johnson majoring in psychology, who was a member of the National Technical Honor Society and recipient of the “Student of the Year Award” from Lamoille Union High School when she graduated in 2006. The mother of a two-year-old son, Danielle has interned with the Lamoille Family Center and has set her sights on a career in human services and social work.
