About Julie Theoret

Julie Theoret came to NVU-Johnson in the fall of 2008. A native of Essex Junction, Vermont, Julie did her undergraduate work at the University of Vermont, where she briefly flirted with the idea of being an engineer before deciding math and mathematics education were a better fit.

After getting her Ph.D. in non-associative algebra at the University of Virginia, she taught for a year at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, then moved on to NVU-Lyndon, where she taught for eight years.

Her Vermont roots made staying in the state attractive, so when she was offered a position at NVU-Johnson (closer to her family), she accepted.

She enjoys teaching at NVU-Johnson because of its small community and the ability to get to know her students outside of the classroom.

Professor Theoret is an avid fan of singing and musical theater – as a viewer, but also as a participant. She also enjoys hanging out and vacationing with her family, watching movies, teaching water workouts, going for walks and going to the beach.

If you think she only talks about math, ask her about Parcheesi and MacGyver.
