About Kathi Tarrant

Kathi Tarrant is a seasoned vocalist, pianist/accompanist, composer and arranger- formerly based out of New York City, and has been living in Vermont for many years. She originally received classical training but has over 20 years worth of Jazz/Contemporary experience as a performer and teaching artist. Kathi specifically tailors her instruction to meet the needs of the individual. A recent NVU grad expressed, “For performances, Kathi and I worked together to find the right songs that not only connected with my voice but also connected with the person I am.”

Understanding that vocal performance is an art-form and a form of therapy, Kathi encourages her students to develop an understanding of music fundamentals which can often lead to a better understanding of themselves and help to improve their vocal health and performance. Special focus is placed upon learning stylistic interpretation, and improvisational skills as applied to Jazz/Contemporary musical styles.
