Artist Talk on ‘Otwieraç’
Assistant Professor Michael Zebrowski to discuss work March 5; exhibit runs through April 3 at JSC
February 16, 2015
Sculptor and JSC Assistant Professor Michael Zebrowski will present a talk to accompany his exhibit, “Otwieraç,” at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the Dibden Center for the Arts’ Julian Scott Gallery. The exhibit runs Feb. 23 through April 3.
Zebrowski teaches sculpture and 3D art in JSC’s Department of Fine & Performing Arts. His work explores art, architecture and science through the lens of “material culture” – the physical objects, artifacts and spaces used by people to define their culture. He also is the principal designer of the design brand this end up and the founder of O P E N, an exhibition and event space in Geneva, N.Y. His most recent projects, installed at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, include the design/build Cube and the design Brooks Light Lab.
Otwieraç is a Polish verb meaning, among other things, “to open” or “to make something accessible.”
The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays as well as during performances at Dibden Center for the Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.
