Indie publisher-poet Adam Robinson to visit campus Jan. 29-30
January 19, 2015
Adam Robinson, who runs the award-winning small press Publishing Genius in Atlanta, Ga., will read from his poetry and discuss publishing and small presses at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Stearns Cinema Room at Johnson State College. The event is free and open to the public.
As part of the Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) Visiting Writers Series, Robinson also will speak to students in JSC’s “Editing & Publishing” course on Jan. 30.
Robinson works as a publishing consultant and has taught publishing courses in the MFA program at University of Baltimore. He also runs Real Pants, a website about literature and the new literary community.
His first book, Adam Robison and Other Poems, was published in 2010 and nominated for the Goodreads Poetry Award. The title uses a version of his name, he explained in an interview, drawing from “a failed novel manuscript called All the Globe or Globule where all the characters were me, and had some version of my name.” His second book, Say Poem, was self-published the same year.
Robinson is also the editor of Our Primary Focus, an e-book about small press culture as described in interviews with writers, book sellers and publishers.
