Chargaux to Perform
Chargaux to Perform
Brooklyn-based indie composers to return to campus on Jan. 19
January 5, 2015
Chargaux, a Brooklyn-based indie classical duo whose distinct sound draws on everything from baroque to blues, will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in the Performance Space in Stearns Student Center at Johnson State College.
Although the duo’s training at Boston College and Berklee School of Music was steeped in classical music, Chargaux (formerly called Charly & Margaux) has gone on to collaborate with hip-hop artists and rappers including J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Pharoahe Monch, Wyclef Jean and Casey Veggies. The duo writes contemporary pieces and performs classical improvisation. Without funding or major label representation, the pair continue to build a humble résumé including co-composition, visual art, national touring, and community service in the United States and abroad.
The concert is free and open to the public.
