Concert Band and Choral Groups Perform May 3 at NVU-Johnson

The Northern Vermont University-Johnson concert band, chorale and chamber singers will perform at 7 p.m. May 3 at Dibden Center for the Arts on campus.

General admission is $5 a person.

The band, directed by Steven Light, will play a range of music, including a piece from “West Side Story,” a suite of English folk songs and a Bach chorale. Three selections are by contemporary female composers, including a lively Greek folk song, a science fiction-inspired piece and a composition that celebrates the Chinese New Year.

Jessica Pierpont will conduct the choirs, which will sing selections by Brahms, Mozart, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland and other composers, as well as Slovakian folk songs and a Norwegian lullaby.
