September 2, 2015
Johnson State College’s Dibden Center for the Arts, which hosts numerous concerts, theater and dance performances and other college and community events throughout the year, has a new technical director.
Will Davis will oversee Dibden productions, communications and all things technical and backstage – lighting, sound, carpentry and more – as well as manage student and professional crews. He replaces longtime Dibden director Jan Herder, who left the college in May.
Most recently, Davis served as managing artistic director for Central Kentucky Community Theatre in Springfield, Ky. He has more than a decade of experience in technical theater, working in a variety of positions for Riverside Studio in London; Omaha Theater Company in Omaha, Neb.; and Tulalip Casino cabaret space in Tulalip, Wash.
He also has been involved with companies and schools such as Seattle’s Ethnic Cultural Theatre; Nebraska’s F-Troupe Collaborative, Rose Theater, Blue Barn Theatre and Midland University; New York’s Stagedoor Manor; and London’s East 15, Theatre503, Royal Academy of Music, Opera Forge and AXIS Arts.
Davis has a B.A. in drama from the University of Washington and an M.F.A. in theater directing from the East 15 School of Acting near London.
