Free Lectures to Feature Vermont Political Candidates, News Columnist

Vermonters and the Johnson State community will get the chance to hear from political candidates and a political columnist this fall as part of the weekly Vermont Politics Speaker Series. The lectures are scheduled as part of state Sen. and Political Science Professor William Doyle’s “Campaign and Elections” class.

The public is invited to attend the free series held on Mondays from 3 to 4:15 p.m. in the Ellsworth Room of Willey Library Learning Center. There will be no session held Oct. 6, during JSC’s fall break.

The scheduled speakers include:

  • Aug. 25: Republican and Libertarian candidates for governor

  • Sept. 1: Jon Margolis, columnist for VTDigger.org, providing an analysis of statewide races (note: Johnson State holds classes on Labor Day)

  • Sept. 8: Local legislative candidates

  • Sept. 15: Candidates for treasurer

  • Sept. 22: Candidates for lieutenant governor

  • Sept. 29: Candidates for secretary of state

  • Oct. 13: Representatives of Candidates for Vermont Governor

  • Oct. 20: Representatives of Candidates for U.S. Congress

  • Oct. 27: Candidates for Vermont Attorney General

  • Nov. 3: Video of 2012 Presidential Debate in lieu of panelists
