Johnson State College Collaborates With St. Michael’s College for Holiday Choir Concert

December 8, 2007

A highlight of the holiday calendar will be the Johnson State College Choir Concert at the Nazarene Church in Johnson, Saturday, December 8, at 3 p.m.

The JSC Choir and Chamber Singers have been rehearsing with the Choir of St. Michael’s College in Colchester for this year’s event. The program of the concert will be Anglican Lessons and Carols, alternating readings with choral performances and congregational singing of Christmas carols.

In place of the traditional lesson readings, excerpts from the literary field, both poetry and prose, will be offered, with a special welcome by JSC President Barbara Murphy.

The choral performances will feature Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata,” performed by the Chorale and Chamber Singerss of both colleges with organ and brass ensemble, as well as the stunningly beautiful “O Magnum Mysterium” of Morten Lauridsen. The afternoon will conclude with a communal rendition of “Silent Night.”

The concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
