Johnson’s CommUNITY Lunch Milestone
Three Years, 3,657 Meals Served
November 18, 2013
Johnson State College’s Dining Services/Sodexo is marking three years of serving community meals at the United Church of Johnson. Since December 2010, Dining Services/Sodexo has served 3,657 meals for CommUNITY Lunch, which brings community members together to break bread, form new friendships and raise money for the Johnson Food Shelf.
“It’s always very pleasant to be there,” local resident Betty Hart said. “The servers are very friendly and the food is excellent.”
Diners are invited to drop a donation into a jar for the Johnson Food Shelf. Through their generosity, a check for $282.82 was presented to Mary Bushnell, president of the Johnson Food Shelf, at the Nov. 13 lunch, a Thanksgiving feast.
Additional partners in CommUNITY Lunch include United Church of Johnson, Laraway Youth and Family Services, The Hub Restaurant, Lovin’ Cup Cafe, the Johnson State SERVE Office, People in Partnership, and many other dedicated volunteers and friends.
