JSC Choir to Perform with Vermont Philharmonic

The Johnson State College Choir will perform two concerts with the Vermont Philharmonic during the fall season.
First, as part of the Philharmonic’s “Passions: A Sultry Evening Of Italian Opera,” the students, led by JSC Professor and newly appointed assistant conductor and chorus director Lisa Jablow, will sing the Humming Chorus from Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. The concert will be performed twice, on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Johnsbury Academy and on Sunday October 18, at 3:30 p.m. at the Barre Opera House. Admission is $15, $12 for seniors & students and $5 for children 6 and under. Group and family rates are also available. This annual opera gala featuresMusic Director Lou Kosma with Joann Martinson and Elise Jablow, winners of the 2009 Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy.
Secondly, in December, the Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform portions of Handel’s Messiah at St. Augustine’s Church in Montpelier (December 4, 2009) and at the Barre Opera House (December 6).
