JSC Community Collects Funds and Food for Local Good Shelf

JSC Community Collects Funds, Food for Local Food Shelf

November 20, 2009

The Johnson State College community took a big bite out of hunger on Friday, November 20, 2009 by donating 22 boxes of Thanksgiving meal fixings, as well as $619 to go toward the purchase of turkeys and other seasonal foodstuffs, to the Johnson Food Shelf. As the photo shows, an upbeat, “can-do” attitude prevailed throughout, as students collected canned goods and other tasty items from various JSC departments and residence halls. Special thanks goes to students James Dempsey and Ashley Favreau, leaders of the “Hunger and Homelessness” Break Away trip that 10 students will be taking to Washington, DC during their February break. Their crew, which will be working at homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the nation’s capital during their “Break Away,” organized the drive and delivered the boxes and cash contributions to the Food Shelf’s director, Mary Bushnell.
