JSC Named a ‘Top 100’ Affordable Small College

Johnson State is one of three Vermont State Colleges making the list

May 15, 2015

Johnson State College has been named one of the top “100 Most Affordable Small Colleges in America” by www.BestValueSchools.com, a website devoted to helping students and families identify quality, affordable college education.

The website notes that “Johnson State College is ideal for New England residents who love the outdoors but don’t want to feel isolated from the ‘real world’; the mountainous region surrounding the campus features six ski resorts but is just a short drive from Burlington, Boston, and Montreal. More than half of the student body lives on campus, taking classes with just 15 people and getting to know their classmates in a way that is sure to build lifelong friendships. Outside of the classroom, JSC attendees participate in extracurricular activities, cheer on varsity sports teams, and visit a massive library holding more than 110,000 volumes.”

Two other state colleges – Castleton and Lyndon – made the list as well. Including JSC, the three are the four-year colleges within the Vermont State College system.

No schools paid for the rankings. For more information about the how the list was determined, visit www.BestValueSchools.com.
