JSC Students Travel to Doha, Qatar, to Present at World Congress on Undergraduate Research

The Invitation-only event brought together 200 undergraduate researchers, artists, historians and writers throughout the world.

November 19, 2016

Three Environmental Science majors at Johnson State College spent Nov. 12-15 in Doha, Qatar, with their professor, Dr. Liz Dolci, attending the First World Congress on Undergraduate Research.

Junior Shavonna Bent of Randolph, senior Heather Murphy of Morgan and senior Shayna Bennett of Belvidere are part of Dr. Elizabeth Dolci’s research team at JSC. Along with senior Katie Bora of Johnson, who was unable to make the trip, the students submitted an abstract that was accepted for presentation at the conference.

The event brought together the best undergraduate researchers, artists, historians, and writers in the world to discuss significant challenges facing the global community through debate and collaboration. In addition to presenting their work, the students participated in thematic seminars, cultural programs, and several receptions with the 200 other invited student presenters.

More information about the conference is available here.
