JSC Theater Presents Miller’s All My Sons
JSC Theater Department Presents Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons”
November 4, 2010
Theater students at Johnson State College will perform three showings of Arthur Miller’s acclaimed post-World War II-era play, All My Sons, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 4, 5 and 6, at Dibden Center for the Arts on the JSC campus.
The play tells the story of a seemingly All-American family whose patriarch is keeping a terrible secret: during the war he knowingly shipped defective parts to the Army, which led to the deaths of more than 20 pilots. Like other Miller plays, it deals with issues of personal ambition, family responsibility, patriotism, morality and the American Dream.
It opened on Broadway in 1947 and won both the Tony Award for best-authored play and the New York Drama Critics’ Award, beating Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh. It has been adapted for film twice, in 1948 and 1987.
The JSC performances are directed by Professor Russell Longtin. Tickets are $5 general admission and free for JSC community members.
