Kesha Ram to Speak Jan. 22 at Northern Vermont University-Johnson

Former state Rep. Kesha Ram will speak on bridging differences at an event at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at Northern Vermont University-Johnson.

The Welcome Back Celebration of Service and Diversity, which kicks off NVU’s spring semester, will be at Dibden Center for the Arts and is free for the public.

In her talk, “The Shortest Distance,” Ram also will discuss her takeaways from “The 57 Bus: A True Story about Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives” by Dashka Slater. The book was the “common book” read and discussed by all first-year students at NVU-Johnson during the fall semester. Themes raised in the book were reflected in public events on campus last fall, including a talk by Slater.

Ram served four terms in the Vermont House of Representatives from the Chittenden 6-4 district in Burlington. She made an unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in 2016. In 2018 she completed the Master in Public Administration program at Harvard Kennedy School.
