Lyndon State Community Chorus in Concert
“Our Favorite Things” on May 4
April 27, 2015
The Lyndon State College Community Chorus will present “Our Favorite Things,” Monday, May 4 in the Alexander Twilight Theatre on the Lyndon campus. The set list features some of the well-known and beloved songs of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The Chorus, under the direction of Janet Edmondson, an adjunct faculty member in Music and Performing Arts at Lyndon, is made of singers from the college and the surrounding area.
Rodgers and Hammerstein were an influential, innovative, and successful American musical theater writing team. They created a string of popular Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s, initiating what is considered the “golden age” of musical theater. The concert will feature familiar favorites from “Oklahoma,” “The Sound of Music,” “Carousel,” “Cinderella,” and much more.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and will go to support the purchase of music and supplies for the chorus. Lyndon State College’s Lecture and Arts Series is sponsored by Hayes Ford and Vermont Broadcast Associates. The Series is made possible in part by the Harriet M. Sherman Lecture Fund.
