Nonprofit Workshop Series Set for Winter/Spring 2010

Free Workshop for Area Nonprofits and Services Providers

January 22, 2010

Johnson State College (JSC) and Morrisville’s People in Partnership are teaming up to help people and service organizations in the Lamoille Valley use www.CommonGoodVT.org to share resources and skills. The goal of the initiative, launched with a grant from the Green Mountain Fund, is to enhance services to community members in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

People are invited to the first in a series of free trainings for Lamoille Valley Nonprofits, “Strengthening the Lamoille Valley Network,” on Friday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session will be held in Room 132 of the Dewey Campus Center at JSC. Participants will strategize about partnership opportunities, learn how to use CommonGoodVT.org to share information and resources, and plan topics for subsequent trainings.

In their grant proposal, PIP and JSC identified skill building and leadership development as top priorities for the initiative. “Members of our community network said they wanted to know more about board development, workforce training, raising money and strategic partnerships,” says Ellen Hill, director of experiential learning at JSC and one of the organizers. “Over the next year, we’ll work with CommonGoodVT.org to deliver four workshops on these topics and start to share our resources.”
