NOVA PBS Series to Feature JSC Professor Gina Mireault

NOVA PBS Series to Feature JSC Professor Gina Mireault’s Research

October 9, 2012

For the past few years, Professor Gina Mireault and her students at Johnson State College have been exploring how infants develop a sense of humor. Their study has landed them on the pages of national magazines and scientific journals, in the halls of Congress for the annual “Posters on the Hill” event, and at science gatherings near and far, including Scotland just last month.

This week, it’s featured on the award-winning PBS science show, NOVA, as part of the acclaimed series “What Makes Us Human.” The segment airs at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, on PBS.

Dr. Mireault recently received continued funding from the Vermont Genetics Network as well as a highly competitive “Academic Research Enhancement Award” from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to support her work investigating the development of humor in babies. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology and has taught at Johnson State College since 1992.
