Attention:

Northern Vermont University is now part of Vermont State University! Please visit VermontState.edu for accurate information.

On Friday, April 17, the Chancellor of the Vermont State College System proposed a restructuring of the Vermont State Colleges that includes a consolidation of Northern Vermont University with Castleton University. We know this is upsetting news for our NVU family and the greater NVU community.

Please know that this is a recommendation and it has not been voted on by the Vermont State Colleges System Board of Trustees. That will happen on Monday, April 20. If this proposal is passed, this is a consolidation of NVU and Castleton University. This means that duplicate NVU programs will continue on at Castleton and strong NVU programs will transition as well. We will be in touch with every current, deposited, accepted, and interested student to ensure a smooth transition if this takes place.

Current NVU students: if this resolution passes, NVU staff will be in touch with you about your program to specifically advise you on your transfer options, including academic plans and financial aid details.

Deposited and accepted students: if this resolution passes, your NVU Admissions counselor will be in immediate contact with you to talk about transitioning you to the consolidated Northern Vermont University at Castleton University.

NVU Online Undergraduate Students: be assured, there will be no disruption to your programs of study. They will continue.

Mental Health Counseling graduate students: be assured, there will be no disruption to your program of study. They will continue.

Our staff and faculty remain committed to each and every one of you.
