Professional Climber to Speak
Majka Burhardt to bring stories of global travel, adventure to JSC on March 15

She has spent two decades exploring the globe, and now professional climber, author, filmmaker and entrepreneur Majka Burhardt brings her stories of challenge, humanity and the fine line between extreme and acceptable risk to Johnson State College on Tuesday, March 15.
Burhardt (her first name is pronounced “My-ka”) will speak at 7 p.m. in 207 Bentley Hall as part of Johnson State’s celebration of Women’s History Month. Her talk is free and open to the public.
She is the author of Coffee Story: Ethiopia and Vertical Ethiopia: Climbing Toward Possibility in the Horn of Africa, executive producer of Waypoint Namibia and founder of LEGADO, an initiative that inspired the forthcoming film Namuli, about her climbing and conservation research expedition to Mozambique. She is also the founder/director of Additive Adventure, a non-profit organization that builds cultural and environmental connections worldwide.
