Second Annual Lamoille County Seminar on Public Service on September 18, 2008

On Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 4 p.m., Johnson State College’s Sylvester-Hulburd Endowment will sponsor the second annual installment of the Lamoille County Seminar on Public Service at the Lamoile County Courthouse in Hyde Park, VT.

The lecture, entitled “Judicial Independence,” will be given by retired Vermont Supreme Court Justice Jeffery Amestoy, and will focus on the role of the judiciary in maintaining the rule of law. A distinguished judge and Vermont native, Judge Amestoy served as Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court from 1997-2004 and Attorney General of Vermont from 1985-1997.

In addition to the lecture, the event will feature the presentation of the Sylvester Hulburd Award for Public Service to Sharon Anderson, who recently completed 23 years of service as Lamoille District and Family Court Manager.

The annual seminar is made possible by the Sylvester-Hulburd Endowment which honors and memorializes the contributions of public service made by Harold C. Sylvester, Esq. and Benjamin M. Hulburd, Esq.
