SHAPE Facility Renovation On Track

Recent Developments Renovations to SHAPE are proceeding rapidly with many changes in the last couple of weeks! The contractors have removed the Varsity Gym floor and have begun the hard work necessary to put the new floor down in the gym. This new floor is a specialized sports flooring with a channel based system that better controls basketball bounce and is excellent for varsity volleyball.

All of the walls have been framed in within the building and the first coat of paint has been applied to much of the second floor. Floor tile is currently being installed on the first floor and ceilings have begun on the second.

Schedule for Grand Opening We are anticipating an early October opening date for the building with a grand opening expected the week after the October break (October 5 -9, 2009). In the meantime, portions of the building will be used for activity classes, athletics and some intramural activities.

Access The facility will be open on a limited basis for JSC students, faculty and staff at the start of the fall semester, Monday, August 24, 2009. Community members will be welcome to return after the grand opening in early October 2009.
