Stephanie Seguino Policing Disparities Talk Sept. 18 at Northern Vermont University
University of Vermont economics professor Stephanie Seguino will give a talk, “Not So Different After All: Vermont’s Racial Disparities in Policing,” at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at Northern Vermont University’s Johnson campus.
The talk, in Room 207 Bentley Hall, is free for the public.
Seguino will discuss her research into racial disparities in Vermont traffic policing from 2012 to 2015 and compare her results with those from other parts of the country. Her talk will touch on the reaction to her findings by the public, the Vermont Legislature and state law enforcement agencies.
Seguino co-authored the 2017 paper “Driving While Black and Brown in Vermont,” which examines the role of race in policing.
