Students Kick Off Marketing Campaign Against Binge Drinking

JSC Students Unveil Film and Marketing Campaign to Combat Binge Drinking

March 30, 2010

The red carpet will be down and representatives from the Vermont Department of Health and other agencies will be on hand at Johnson State College at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, to launch a major marketing campaign developed by JSC students to discourage binge drinking by adults.

Dubbed “Don’t Be That Guy/Don’t Be That Girl,” the campaign is designed to raise awareness in Lamoille County about the risks of binge drinking. It was funded by the Vermont Department of Health and the Lamoille Prevention Coalition, with creative support from Spike Advertising of Burlington.

The evening will premiere two videos starring JSC students that focus on risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption. In addition to these videos, students will share their own experiences with their peers in an effort to keep our community safe. Food, grab bags and door prizes will be distributed to attendees, with live music provided by Meghan Waterhouse, Michael Hamilton, Fabian Ranville and Axle Handy.

Performers and members of the campaign committee include JSC students Eric Hill, Hayes Johnson, Rob Key, Toni Little, Madalyn Tanner and Allison Graham.

The event is free and open to those aged 21 and older. For more information, contact Michele Whitmore at 802-635-1452.
