About the Concentration in Writing

Writing Concentration (NVU-Lyndon)

You’ll gain a solid foundation in literature from across the centuries while honing your skills as a writer. You’ll explore a number of professionally relevant areas, including writing for advertising and marketing, journalistic writing, and creative writing.

Writing Minor (NVU-Lyndon) and Writing and Publishing Minor (NVU-Johnson)

With this minor, you will build skills in traditional and new technologies related to editing, publishing, and writing. You’ll study the relationship between writers and readers and learn how art and business intersect. Coursework focuses on the history of publishing, editing, and writing skills.

All students complete an internship of one to three credits in a relevant area, such as communications, editing, marketing, publishing, or writing. This real-world experience will help you stand out to employers after you graduate.
