NVU Partnership with Kingdom East School District

NVU Outdoor Education, Leadership, and Tourism (OELT) students began working with the school district in 2021 to support a new outdoor education program that gets pre-K through grade 8 students outdoors and learning new skills.

NVU students are gaining new skills themselves, as they work with groups that range from 10-50 students and apply their outdoor knowledge in an educational format, earn credits, and some continue as school employees.

“Many of our students took part for credit the first time and then went on to work directly with the school district for a competitive hourly rate,” said NVU OELT Professor Ben Mirkin.

“It’s a great partnership and we’re happy to have made this connection,” said Morgan Moore, Director of Experiential Learning and Summer School Program Director, Kingdom East School District. “I hope it continues to grow.”
