Welcome to Northern Vermont University!

Here, North is more than just a sense of place or where we are. It’s a sense of purpose. It’s who we are. North sees straight to the problem and gets straight to fixing it. North elevates thinking and gives rise to new theories and ideas. North changes perspectives and brings people together. North answers the call to action and keeps lifting our communities. North takes what it’s given and makes something more. North never stops asking: “What’s next?”

Northern Vermont University is a two-campus institution of higher education that combines the best of our campuses’ nationally recognized liberal arts and professional programs. At Northern Vermont University, our goal is to guide curious, motivated, and engaged students on their paths to success and their places in the world.

One University. Two Unique, Vibrant Campuses.

As an NVU student, you’ll enroll at either our Lyndon or Johnson campus. If you’re a varsity athlete, you’ll play for your campus’ team – either the Lyndon Hornets or the Johnson Badgers. But while you’ll choose a home base, you will be able to take classes at both Lyndon and Johnson, on campus and virtually through our online and telepresence classrooms.

And you’ll see the benefits right away. By combining more than 200 years of history in liberal arts and professional learning, NVU offers expanded access to a faculty with a broader and deeper depth of expertise and experience. You’ll collaborate with and learn from peers and staff on both campuses. And your alumni network will include Lyndon and Johnson graduates all over the world who will help you get your foot in the door to put your degree immediately to work in your profession.

Our campuses both offer in-demand degrees in business, criminal justice, education, psychology and human services, and much more. We also have programs and disciplines unique to each campus.

Northern Vermont University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

NVU Online – No Matter Where You Are.

NVU Online offers flexible, affordable, high-quality options for students who want to earn their bachelor’s degree off-campus. As an NVU Online student, you’ll work with our expert faculty, online advisors, and a community of motivated students who, like you, have found their direction and are following it.

NVU Online offers career-ready degree programs in accounting, criminal justice, psychology, wellness and alternative medicine, and more. In 2019, we also launched our first online master’s degree — in leadership studies.

Space to Grow as a Professional.

The Center for Professional Studies (CPS) at NVU aims to teach people new skills and advance careers through online, classroom-based, and hybrid programs enabling them to grow personally, excel in their careers, and enhance their communities.

CPS offers a variety of courses online and in-person including project management, supervisor boot camps, QuickBooks certifications, social media workshops, avalanche rescue and much more.

In 2018, CPS launched Do North Coworking, a professional and creative coworking space for startup founders, remote workers, forward-thinking educators, and community leaders to be productive, build community, explore new opportunities, and network. Located in Lyndonville, Do North Coworking is a resource for workers throughout the Northeast Kingdom. Learn more and stop by!
