Diversity-Committed Employers

Diversity committed employers will have:

  • A diversity statement
  • A non-discrimination policy
  • Offer employee support or networks for individuals of color
  • Engage in diversity recruitment efforts
  • Hold professional diversity memberships
  • Demonstrate racial/ethnic diversity among senior management and the Board of Directors

Other Ways to Learn About an Employer’s Commitment to Diversity

  • Search the internet to see if they have lawsuits or civil rights violations
  • Visit the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s website which has an appellate briefs search
  • Note recent changes or updates to policies and work culture which may indicate there has been a charge of discrimination
  • When interviewing ask about workplace culture and diversity commitment with examples; additionally, ask the surrounding community members about the organization
