You’ve found your direction. Now let’s do this. Let’s Do North.

Your sense of purpose and your motivation earned you admission to Northern Vermont University. Now these traits will help you reach your goal of becoming a college graduate. As an NVU student, however, you don’t have to navigate the path to your educational and social goals alone. Northern Vermont University’s First-Year Experience program is here to serve as a guide on your journey through your first year of college and beyond.

Make Connections

NVU’s First-Year Experience program is about connections for new students: connecting you to your professors, to academic and student life, to your peers. Some FYE programming is shared between our two NVU campuses in Johnson and Lyndon. But much of our first-year programming reflects the identity and traditions of each campus, so students can immerse themselves in a culture unique to their NVU location.

Get Inspired

FYE programs reflect our inclusive campus environments, where we welcome and celebrate different starting points and perspectives. As part of NVU’s focus on innovation and creativity, FYE events and programs bring students together to share ideas, inspire each other, and build the critical-thinking and problem-solving skills you’ll need in your career. You will begin to develop into a lifelong learner who is prepared to adapt to a changing world.

Whether it’s through a summer or fall orientation on campus, academic or peer advising, a shared reading, a seminar, or another activity, FYE staff and student leaders will show you the tools you need to be successful in college and after you graduate.
